I have a new Samsung A16 that suddenly stopped receiving SMS messages. Everything else worked just fine. I tried all the possible troubleshooting guides, spent almost 4 hours on the phone with my carrier's advanced technical support and eventually switched the carrier. But the problem still persisted.
I was finally ready to return the phone, so I backed all settings and data on the SD card (using the Smart Switch app) and performed a factory reset. Then I manually set up a WiFi connection and before any further configurations, I tried receiving an SMS message. It worked!
I then restored all the settings and data from the SD card (using the Smart Switch app). The SMS receiving messages has been working ever since.
Just wanted to share my personal experience with this problem and I fixed it.
