Anoxic brain injury
Hello, I’m writing this post in regard to my uncle (41 yo male) who suffered a widow maker heart attack on Monday which led to a cardiac arrest caused by ventricular fibrillation. His daughter started CPR immediately and paramedics were called the moment he collapsed. His pulse was brought back after about 12-15 minutes of CPR. He has since been in the CVICU and is not waking up. It has been 6 days and there has no been purposeful movements. His CT scan and MRI which was done twice both came back normal. His EEG came back as slow waves with diffuse background. His pupils constrict and he opens his eyes only with rough stimuli. He does not follow commands and does not reach to pain. He does have a cough/gag reflex and corneal reflex. We noticed his extremities move a few times when the nurses reposition him. Does anyone have any advice/insight if they have been in a similar situation or noticed a loved one going through it?
