With Horns, Sometimes Less is More...

Don't get me wrong, I like Stuart Bogie, and I like when he sits in with the band. I do think that sometimes less is more with the horns though. It can be special, but there can also be too much. Coming out of El Gonzo, I think they used him too much on N3. The longer, slower, horn inspired jams brought down the energy on a night when I was hoping for them to blow the roof off of the place. I think Stuart was great on "Moving Out" earlier in the festival, and they could not have done it without him. It was nice to have him there at other times as well, but on N3 he was there for almost the full first set. I will take Rick and the boys shredding it up over having horns any day.
