I play soulslikes mainly for the world building and atmosphere. Looking for games that fit this aesthetic /art style/ feel but wouldn't normally be classified as a soulslike
I feel like there's gotta be more awesome games with what I love that I just haven't heard of because they're not soulslikes.
Specifically drawn to games that are:
Grim, dark, or melancholic, bleak and somber
Grotesque or unsettling (body horror welcome)
Decaying worlds, ruined civilizations, oppressive vibes
Minimal hand-holding / strong visual identity
Genre doesn’t really matter — action, RPG, horror, indie, AA, even walking sims are fine. I’m more interested in art direction, tone, and mood than difficulty or combat systems.
Would love to hear any recommendations that lean into that bleak, somber, “world is dying” kind of atmosphere.
Thanks
