Hi everyone!
Firstly I wanna say that is amazing how much support I’ve received in my last post in this subreddit.
So thanks to everyone (fr)! ❤️
This post is just for a quick update on the situation.
Everything is going pretty straightforward and I managed to install Steam and SteamVR, and honestly… for this laptop which has a GTX 1650 4gigs and an i5-8th gen, is running VERY well! And I’m actually surprised that I can play games at medium (and sometimes high) resolution in ALVR, when on windows it was more or less at low or very low resolution.
I also wanna be honest, this is my first time using truthfully Linux in a device, and there were some moments where I was like “Why I’m doing this?” or “Okey, I’m going to reinstall windows”… BUT I didn’t want to gave up just because sometimes things weren’t perfect or exactly straightforward as I wanted.
For example when I tried to connect my VR (Pico 4) it connected with no issue, but the screen had inverted colours, so I searched up on my search engine and didn’t find i fix for this at all, just someone who had the same problem and didn’t know how fix it just like me… but like 1 hour after I tried to wear once again the VR, just so I maybe take a look at the logs. But from nowhere everything worked fine and no artefacts at all!
Now… I don’t know why it worked, but they say “If it work, don’t touch it!”.
The only thing for now is that on SteamVR, when I’m wearing the VR, my pc screen is not visible, even if I disconnect my secondary monitor. Is not a big deal, I can just launch the game and after wear the VR.
I really like the idea of using Fedora for substitute to Windows, and having everything polished it will be great!
So if anyone knows some fix give me a call!
Thanks again to this community ❤️ (very supportive)!
