Recently I asked what people considered a high salary and this discussion itself was brought forward by a post by Kugan Parapen on Facebook. One thing that he said and that I want to discuss is this:
>Et pourtant ces petits bourgeois touchent plus de dix fois le salaire minimum. Est-ce-que des études poussées justifie ce différentiel ? Qu’un médecin devrait toucher plus de vingt fois le salaire d’une infirmière ?
Do you find it acceptable that a doctor/engineer/lawyer earns more and sometimes a lot more than a laborer/garbage man/cleaner? Should someone who has a degree or sometimes a masters/Phd earn more than someone who quit school at CPE/SC? Why or Why not?
Kugan Parapen has proposed that people who earns above rs150k/month should be taxed at 30% income tax. However on facebook, a lot of people seems against it and they complained that rs150k/month is not that high anymore and that people who earn that have worked hard and earned it.
Previously, if you earned above the symbolic bar of rs100k/mo you would be considered a high earner. However, inflation in recent years and in particular post covid has been particuarly bad. Take rs100 to the bazar and you will barely get anything. Take rs10k and go to the supermarket/store and you will see how fast that goes.
So what would you say is high earning now? rs100k? rs150k? rs500k?
