Hey everyone,
I’m planning a trip to Ujjain + Omkareshwar in late June and wanted feedback from people who’ve done a similar trip. Main priorities are decent weather, manageable crowds, and covering temples properly without rushing too much.
Current Itinerary
Day 1 (22 June)
- Train from Delhi to Ujjain
- Reach Ujjain around 7 PM
- check-in at hotel
- Mahakal Lok corridor night visit
Day 2 (23 June) – Ujjain
- Reach Mahakaleshwar around 12:30 AM for Bhasma Aarti (im aware of booking tickets beforehand)
- Bhasma Aarti / Darshan till ~6:30 AM
After bhasma aarti and mahakaleshwar temple walk around:
- Kaal Bhairav Mandir (going early to avoid later crowd)
- 24 Khamba Mata Mandir
- Harsiddhi Mata Temple
- Breakfast / Rest (around 11 am)
Afternoon / Evening:
6. Sandipani Ashram
7. Mangalnath Temple
8. Sthir Man Ganesh Temple
9. Gadkalika Temple
10. Bhartrihari Caves
-> Ram Ghat evening aarti
Day 3 (24 June)
- Checkout from Ujjain (10 am)
- Bus to Omkareshwar (~5 hrs assumed)
- Check-in there
- Evening boat ride / Narmada ghat walk / bridge walk
- Relax
Day 4 (25 June) – Omkareshwar
- Morning Aarti at Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga
- Then:
- Mamleshwar Temple
- Gauri Somnath Temple
- Siddhanath Temple
- Vishnu Temple / nearby shrines
- Explore / Parikrama
- Leave for Indore around 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
- Train from Indore in evening (around 4 pm)
Questions
- Is this itinerary realistically feasible or too packed?
- For Ujjain local travel, should we use e-rickshaws/autos or rent a scooty?
- If scooty is better, any trusted rental contacts/services in Ujjain?
- Is going to Kaal Bhairav right after Mahakal a smart move crowd-wise?
- Any temple/time optimizations you’d suggest? in which temple prasad is allowed or not?
We’re 2 people traveling together.
Would appreciate practical advice from anyone who has done this recently. Thanks!
I phrased my itinerary with the help of chatgpt and watched many youtube videos.
