Remove as an Authorized User for a closed credit card that doesn’t belong to me
Hello I am at a loss here.
I am an authorized user on my ex husband’s credit card and I didn’t know that he hadn’t removed me all this time. Turns out he maxed out the card and stopped paying since September, this forced the credit card company (Citibank) to closed the account in Feb of this year.
I’ve been checking my score from all three bureau and it kept showing low 800s so I didn’t know about this until I pulled my credit report a couple weeks ago and saw that my actual credit score is actually 580 with Equifax and 607 with transunion. Experian remained because Citibank doesn’t report to Experian.
Anyhow, I called Citibank to remove me and they absolutely will not remove me even though my ex husband has been divorced for quite some time low and I haven’t used the card since the divorce. I don’t even have the card.
I filed a dispute with both credit agency. Transunion removed it right away. Equifax came back saying that this item belongs to me.
I called Citibank, they won’t remove me. Equifax say this card belongs to me… I don’t know what to do next. I will not reach out to my exhusband as he is a violent person with history of domestic violent…
Please help…
