This is a hypothetical question but I would welcome guidance.

I’m currently earning £32k, having taken a substantial pay cut after career break, and living with parents in Wales. I want to move to a city and I believe/hope to secure a higher income.

However, even if I secured new employment in a new city, would renting now be impossible given I won’t be able to either offer a guarantor (parents have retired) or offer upfront rent (due to Renters Reform Act banning it).

If I stayed in hotels for the first three months, would they still require a guarantor?

I feel completely stuck and don’t want to apply for jobs, if I won’t even be able to find somewhere to live.

I have solid rent history between 2011-2023 (before moving home with parents)
