AI images being used in the midweek meeting

Heyo. Earlier today I made a post about general sentiments in the borg towards AI use that I have personally noticed. During it I mentioned that a bit ago I recalled seeing an AI generated image straight from the org that I never saw anyone here talk about. Here’s that image.

I drew some arrows and circles highlighting many mistakes in the image. This proves to me without a shadow of a doubt that AI was used, most likely an older model. Either that, or bethel genuinely has some of the worst artists I’ve ever seen in a religious setting.

In no particular order, the mistakes I have noticed are the following:

  1. A woman’s shawl(?) merges into her outer garments

  2. Many, many mistakes regarding hands, whether that be missing fingers or merged flesh clumps

  3. Parts of the background that just make no sense

  4. The texturing on the walls looks very weird

What do you guys think? Have there been any other images that have slipped this subreddits notice?

AI in an organization about “spirit directed truth”

First of all, sorry, this kinda turned into a bit of a rant, but I swear there’s some good points down there XD

So, I was out in Saturday field service yesterday morning with a PIMI Elder. I myself am a rather young PIMO MS (between 18-22, I don’t like giving exact details about myself) and this elder is somewhat newly appointed and in his mid 30s.

Anyhow, we were having a somewhat pleasant morning, at least, as pleasant of a morning one can have in field service with a congregation that is on average 40 years your senior. This particular elder, being younger than most others in my hall, has a small mutual interest in video games. I was looking for something we had in common to break up the boring silence of the morning, so I brought up how I’ve really been enjoying the recent Tomodachi Life game.

For all you non-gamers. Tomodachi life is a Nintendo game where you can recreate family, friends, or even characters from various media and drop them on an island and watch them interact with each other. It’s quite entertaining and has a lot of customization. So I was showing this brother the characters I had recreated, and his response blindsided me.

As I’m showing him images of my creations he straight up tells me “you should try using AI, it could help give you ideas and show you how to recreate people.” This genuinely made me do a double take. Why would I use AI in a game meant to stimulate and exercise *my* creativity? But it didn’t stop there. Throughout the entire morning I swear this elder mentioned using AI for tasks at least 3 more times. He mentioned using it to create a program for work (he has no experience in programming and works at a call center) as well as trying to get me to use AI for other things as well.

I really don’t understand how witnesses are able to rely so much on AI while claiming to be so much better and different than the rest of the world. All AI does is recycle, summarize, and regurgitate the “worldly” thoughts and creations found online. And it does so in such a way that it dumbs down every topic it covers until it becomes unrecognizable, easy to digest slop, much like the watchtowers recent publications (studying a kids book is still crazy to me). And this reliance on AI doesn’t just stop at some young elder who relies on the easy answers of AI. It’s a growing tumor within the whole organization.

If you’ve been on this subreddit for a hot minute, you may recall a post a bit ago pointing out a video about the history of the watchtower using AI generated images. Funnily enough, in a recent-ish midweek meeting they also used an AI generated image which I didn’t actually see posted here (I kept screenshots of it. If anyone wants me to post it lemme know). I’ve also seen other elders use AI for photos in public talks, and honestly, these generated photos look like asscheeks compared to some free stock images you could find online. It’s a tool that encourages and enables laziness. This organization at least used to pretend to be academic, but now it trades its substance for easy mediocrity.

It’s just so ironic that this whole damn religion in which so many weird teachings rely on “actually, this holiday/belief/practice *used* to be based on false religion or hedonistic practices millennia ago so we shouldn’t practice it today” and then relies on a program that recycles “worldly” media and regurgitates the stolen images into a mish mash photo. How are the influences that were used in the AI’s kitbash any different then the influences in modern practices or holidays like Mother’s Day?How can any God or spirit influence be involved in a lifeless program?

Anyways, it just feels like an indicator of how far this organization has fallen. Feeding AI slop to its followers and conditioning them to accept crap and call it gold. What do you guys think? Am I just overthinking this?
