Hey all,
I’m considering upgrading to dual VKB Gunfighters (Space Combat Edition), but I’m struggling to justify the price (400€ per stick here in Europe).
My main use case is Star Citizen, especially light fighter PvP, so very fast, high-intensity combat where you’re constantly micro-adjusting aim and movement. This is not like WWII sims where inputs are slower and more deliberate. This mean, the joy will under a lot of stress during its use.
I have a few concerns:
- Durability / wear Since SC combat is so aggressive on inputs, I’m worried about spending ~800€ on dual Gunfighters and wearing them out faster than expected. Are they actually more durable than Gladiators, or just more premium feeling?
- Real performance difference What does the Gunfighter actually improve over the Gladiator in practice?
- Is it noticeably more precise for aiming?
- Is it just smoother, or does it actually translate into better tracking?
- How do people even measure that “precision” difference?
I’ve read that Gunfighters have smoother gimbals and better cams, which supposedly help with micro-adjustments , but I’m trying to understand if that really matters in a chaotic PvP environment like SC.
- Mixed HOSAS setup (Gunfighter + Gladiator) I’m considering running Gunfighter on the right (aiming hand) and Gladiator on the left (movement/throttle).
- Does that feel unbalanced or weird?
- Does the difference in smoothness/resistance mess with muscle memory?
I’ve seen people recommend this exact setup as a compromise , but I’d like more opinions.
Context:
I don’t mind paying more if it’s actually worth it long term (“buy once, cry once”), but I don’t want to fall into the trap of paying double for marginal gains.
For those who have used both: Is the Gunfighter a real upgrade for Star Citizen PvP, or just a premium luxury that won't affect that much my performance?
Thanks!
