I am an illustrator and love sketching. My absolute favorite pencil is a Lowe-Cornell hb pencil. I don’t think it’s anything special, just a basic hb pencil, but other brands aren’t the same. I have no idea where I got it, just ended up with it. I’ve been using it sparingly because I cannot find this exact pencil in local stores, and online it seems to be maybe only offered in packs with other pencils, where I can’t tell if it is even the same one and seems like a waste to buy a $11 pack when I only want one of the pencils and go through them pretty quickly.
Does anyone know where I can buy this pencil in bulk? I would use it for the rest of my life if I could. If not, do you know of another with a similar feel? I’ve tried hb pencils from Staedtler and General’s which is what my local stores carry. They are ok but feel a little too soft, and h is too hard. I want a pencil I can use in my sketchbook that doesn’t smudge too much and also doesn’t carve into the paper. The Lowe-Cornell hb one is just right for me.
I know it’s a little silly to be so particular. After drawing and animating for many years I’ve become aware of the slight differences haha. Figure I might as well try to get my favorite again. Thanks for your help.
