How do you manage exam anxiety as an adult, and for exams you choose to take?

I’m taking a language exam next week. This has been completely self-directed learning. I don’t need this language for work, and it’s not even a major language - it is just one that I have a personal connection to and thus wanted to learn.

The test is an official European certification, and the pass mark is 60% in every section (writing, speaking, listening, reading), so if you fail one section you fail the whole thing.

Most of the time when I try to find advice on this topic it’s aimed either at teenagers, or people who are cramming.

I have been fitting in around an hour a day’s study for the last year on the side of a very busy life. I also do on average a few hours a week of language contact - eg podcasts, weekly lesson, sometimes meet ups. I could definitely be more prepared, but it’s not a case that I’m cramming. I think (touch wood) that unless I’m very unlucky on the day that I will get the certification but the 60% cut off is stressful.

Anyways, I’d really appreciate any advice with this context around it. Of course some people would say why sit an exam if you don’t need to do it, but for me personally I am quite goal oriented and I need to have something that I’m aiming for in order to get me to apply myself.
