My 2024 and 2025 taxes are still processing by the IRS. I've tried contacting them to get it figured out, but they've been unable to help so I'm in a waiting game with that. I am currently in the SAVE forbearance.
I currently file married filing separately with my spouse and we live in a community property state so both incomes are combined and then split. I want to get into PAYE while it still exists since it will be a lower payment for me. If I submit an application for that, it asks me to provide documentation of income.
Would I need to provide my spouse's income too? They make more money but also put a lot in 453(b), so I'm not sure what my gross income would look like exactly. I'm afraid if those contributions aren't accounted for then the monthly payment would be very high. If it just asks for my income, then it's probably around the ballpark of what I would pay if the IRS processed my taxes. We also have 2 kids and each of us claim one of them.
This is probably a unique scenario, but does anything know what I would expect to see in this situation if I tried to apply for PAYE?
