My mum's GP, in a hurried conversation in which I mentioned deficiencies that I suspect as a result of her long-term omeprazole use, said he'd swap her omperazole to femotidine. He didn't give any advice but I'm now reading that doing so can cause acid rebound. Argh! Any knowledge about this?

And, will the realisation that my mum didn't actually have reflux help us, at all?

Well, she may have had it but I've realised that she has massive B12 deficiency and that *that* is the cause of her cough, and not reflux.

We're both worried. More so about the prep and procedure than the results.

She has a blood pressure medication (indapamide) that can cause dehydration, and obviously diarrhoea can cause dehydration, so I rang and spoke to the patient adviser who said to carry on taking indapamide and not to use rehydration salts (e.g. dioralyte) but she answered the last one without checking with the clinician. She basically fobbed me off. But I've read that rehydration salts (or sports drinks, which are similar) are allowed.

Mum's resistant hypertension also makes me worry about her having a sedative. Plus she's being investigated for sleep apnoea, which can make a sedative more difficult. Thankfully she has the option of just having gas and air.

It's just horrible that she'll have to go through it and I'm worried about dehydration. I found advice online from one trust that said to stop indapamide before the procedure.
