remote job boards that actually work for non-US applicants
I've tested about 20 job boards over the past year trying to find roles that don't silently require US residency. Most were a waste of time. These are the ones I kept coming back to
We Work Remotely – probably the best for international applicants. Clear "worldwide" vs "US only" labeling. Good mix of tech and non-tech roles. The listings feel more curated than Indeed or LinkedIn
RemoteOK – strong for tech roles specifically. Shows which countries are eligible which saves you the guessing game. Transparent about salary ranges too which is rare
Working Nomads – smaller but curated. Weekly newsletter format works well if you don't want to check boards daily. Decent for international roles
Himalayas – newer platform with good location transparency filters. You can actually filter by your specific country and only see roles that accept it. UI is clean
RemoteJobsFinder – smaller database but the listings tend to be more accurate about location requirements. Less noise than the big boards. Good for filtering down to actual remote-anywhere roles
FlexJobs – vetted listings which sounds great but it costs $25/month. Quality is solid and they do catch fake postings. Worth it for a month or two during active searching but I wouldn't keep the subscription forever
Turing – tech-specific, hires globally. More of a matchmaking service than a job board. They test you first and then connect you with companies. Good for developers, less useful for other fields
The pattern I noticed: the more a board specializes in remote work specifically, the better it handles international candidates. General job sites like LinkedIn and Indeed treat "remote" as a checkbox afterthought which is why the listings are so misleading
