Urgent: Looking for Dog Foster/Adopter sweet Husky girl

Hi everyone, I’m in a bit of a difficult situation and due to some serious health issues with my son and our need to kind of.... re-structure our lives to support his health, we are having to rehome our beautiful, sweet dog, Scout. Both to address our son's health needs, but also to give her a better environment than our cramped 2nd floor apartment (and lack of bandwidth) can offer. We are working on rehoming, but are in need of some temporary fostering as soon as possible, if possible, as well. We are located in Alameda, and can provide all the doggy stuff, bowls, toys, food, treats, crate, etc. for anyone interested in fostering.

A bit about her:

  • Gender: Female,
  • Age: 2 years old,
  • Breed: Husky Mix
  • Health: Spayed, up-to-date on all shots, no health issues
  • Training: Leash trained, House trained, Basic commands.
  • Weight: 60lbs
  • Microchipped: Yes

Scout is a 2 year-old female Husky mix with a very affectionate, playful, loving personality, and of course lots of energy. She enjoys spending time with her people, whether that's playtime or curling up for cuddles.

She is fully house trained, leash trained, and knows basic commands. She’s very bright, quick learner and eager to please as well. She loves to socialize and does really well with other dogs, big or small. She can be a bit shy when she first meets new humans, but warms up quickly. She does tend to think she's a smaller dog than she is, and loves to jump up to great her humans.

She has absolutely no "tug/pull" instinct at ALL. If you try to play tug-o-war with her she will just gently release the rope/toy to you, every time… "Oh you want this rope? Ok, here you go!". She's a lover, not a fighter 😄

Scout also LOVES to shred things. But....she's particular about it, and a little methodical. Like a doggy surgeon. She will only do this with toys and items given to her, and doesn't just go around gnawing at things at all. She's very mindful and well behaved when it comes to this. (and in general) If you give her some newspaper, she will methodically work at shredding it into tiny strips of paper. It’s adorable and seems to provide good mental stimulation for her.

Pros: She is fiercely loyal, great with other dogs, and very loving and protective of her owners. Loves to go for walks, very good on a leash and in public is much more timid than protective. She loves to play, but also is able to settle down and sleeps well. She really loves being close to her people.

Non-Pros: Scout has some separation anxiety, and thus has not had a lot of crate training, but does well with it when needed. She also gets excited and loves to jump up on her hind legs to great her people, and can occasionally catch us off guard.

Separation anxiety manifests as barking, running from door to windows looking/listening for human, etc. she doesn't get aggressive at all, but because she's a bigger dog that desperately wants to be a lap dog, she can get excited and knock over a smaller human in her attempts for comfort/cuddles.

She's kid friendly in terms of demeanor and temperament, she gets really worried and protective if her human (especially kiddo) is upset/crying, etc. and will want to stay close to them. However because of her size she can kind of be bigger than the kid and be a bit overwhelming in her excitability.

If you have any questions please reach out.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
