Do diffusers actually make a difference or do people just buy them for aesthetics?

I used to think reed diffusers were one of those things people keep around just to make shelves look fancy lol. But a friend gifted me one when I moved into my apartment and after a few days I noticed my room actually smelled fresh all the time without me having to remember candles or sprays.

I’ve been using one from IRIS Home Fragrances lately and now I kinda get the hype. It’s subtle but you notice it the second you walk into the room, especially after coming home tired from work.

Now I’m curious if people here actually prefer diffusers over candles and incense or if I’m just late to this whole thing lol
