[Hey there. Micro-rant to start. Skip to the bottom for the QUESTIONS.]
I own a Steamdeck OLED, a few Pis & several desktops but haven't gone full-hog on buying every single handheld like they are pokemon yet. YET.
I want to save money.
But I also want the full dual-screen experience on DS, 3DS, WiiU. So I am sitting on the 'buy now' screen for an AYN Thor. I think the Base is enough but might have to push to pro. But that is a different conversation than I want to have here.
My instincts tell me that despite the beautiful AMOLED, lush 6" main screen & crisp 1080 pixel resolutions, the RG DS will actually be the better match for actual DS games. And knowing me I will still want to play GBA, GBC, GB, Virtuaboy, SNES, NES, Genesis, MegaCD, PS1, PSP on it. And MAYBE try a small selection of lite 3DS, Dreamcast & PS2 titles if it can hang.
But finding accurate information on this particular handheld is... hard. 90% of what's available was invalid AT LAUNCH, and nearly all the rest is invalid because of massive improvements in the last 4 months. So, the questions.
------------------
IN ITS CURRENT STATE
What kind of performance can I expect from the RG DS?
I can run GammaOS -OR- Rocknix daylies, on an emulator-by-emulator basis if needed.
I have Samsung EVO & Sandisk Ultra SDXC cards coming out the wazzu for finding on that works well. They're all greater than 256gb but I can buy a smaller card if needed. I won't be using a trash card shipped with the device.
Are there going to be any problem games on DS? PS1? PSP? What about 3DS performance? Do ANY games work? Same question across all heavier emulators.
Oh, and one more specialty question. TATA mode in lynx, any way to enable it to use both screens as a single screen?
Thanks for any help provided.
