Here's the Argentinian government saying in 1833 the British expelled the population.

Here's the British government saying, "In 1832 Argentina dispatched a military garrison to the islands. Britain protested and sent forces to remove it. No civilians were expelled and historical evidence suggests that the majority of the 30 or so civilians chose to stay. British settlers arrived from 1833 onwards, and were joined by other nationalities."

Here's the Falkland Islands government saying, "only the 26-man garrison were ordered to leave the Falkland Islands, along with 11 women and 8 children who had accompanied them. The garrison itself had been established for less than three months," but that other inhabitants were allowed to remain and many did.

>By the time the British invaded and took control in 1833, the town had grown to a population of between 150 and 200 inhabitants who were, as I said, put under military rule and eventually exiled to the mainland. To put this seemingly small number in perspective, the current population of the Islands, almost 200 years later, is barely over 3700 people. So, 150-200 was substantial at the time.
