Context: I usually have recurring dreams. I’ve paid close attention to my dreams for as long as I can remember—it’s something that has always piqued my curiosity. Anyway... I’ve had various dreams that continue from one night to the next—literally, as if they were the next episode. I’ve actually managed to dream the same scenario, followed by its continuation, for nearly a week straight; it is truly incredible and, above all, indescribable.
Last night, I had this particular dream—one I recall having for the first time when I was around 12 or 14 years old (I’m 34 now). I dreamt it again a couple of times in the years that followed, but it always played out much the same way (it was a sort of city situated near the water—like a seaside or coastal town—with dirt roads, and it looked incredibly old town). However, last night I was in a completely different dream, but I was with my husband walking out of our house (a house I've dreamed about before, but I didn't pay much attention to that detail). We crossed the street and were already in that same city near the water, but the city looked different. It looked much more populated, cleaner, with better-structured streets. In the dream, I told myself that it seemed like I already knew this place. I remembered that I had dreamed about this place before and was amazed at how much it had changed. Then, just like that, I woke up.
Now that I’m "awake", I’ve started trying to recall the details. It’s been years since I last dreamed about that town; the part about the house is something recent—only a few months old, I think—but what really baffled me was the town itself, the way everything connected, and how it actually seemed to "update"—so to speak. It’s simply indescribable. It feels as though it belonged to another life, another timeline—past or future—or even another world. I just don't know...
Sometimes I think that all my dreams are somehow interconnected—not all of them at once, perhaps, but rather that one group relates to one thing, another group to something else, and so on.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. I’d love to hear your thoughts... What do you think?
