Hi! My husband got me a 16 pro last year that I adore. I stepped up from an SE 3rd gen. The only issue I have with it is heat when playing games or taking photos and that my batter health is down by 7% already, when before, I only dropped like 2% every year for 2 years. Maybe my fault though I’m not sure.
So this year I really am trying to save up to get him a decent phone for Father’s Day/ his birthday (they are really close together)
His phone is also an SE 3rd get but the back is cracked, his speaker and mic don’t work so he has to use a headset for everything and he can’t play the games we like to play together with our son on it and has to use mine, so it’s never all three of us. Think Roblox and Minecraft and CODM. We also found some Roblox games we play even without our kid and are surprised they are Roblox games and not on steam or something. It brings joy to my little gamer heart that we can have mobile games like I dreamed of having back when I was a kid. I really wanted a portable ps1 with a screen but never could have imagined what we actually have now.
I can get a 16e for 300 bucks or a 15 for 400 bucks.
Anyway I drive DoorDash only when I can. I don’t have the same income stream he does because I care for our autistic son full time and my aging Mamaw. It’s not a gender thing, he has done the stay at home thing as well when it made sense but he got a job offer from the place his mom works at and took it because he would make more an hour than I could (I made like $13) so I can’t go for a pro like he got for me. There is also the fact that while I love taking family photos and am always the “photographer” for our outings, he doesn’t so much. He enjoys taking the occasional picture but isn’t as worried about quality and the best angle like I am. He just needs a camera that’s good enough.
So is the 16e good enough? He also needs really good battery life as he is on his phone a lot. I think he would use the better ram in the 16e but I’m worried the camera won’t even be good enough for his light use. We do rely on these to capture memories of our family. He doesn’t care about the notch or anything like that. Anything would be better than what he has now but I want to make sure I get the best fit I can because we can’t upgrade often. This is the first time I’ve ever had a decent paid off phone and I want to do the same for him. I’m leaning toward the 16e because it’s cheaper and in more likely to succeed in saving the money and because it has better internals.
So what do people who have owed either of these think?
