Swapping to a Gaming Laptop

Edited as people didn’t seem to see the question so moved to the top of the post.

TLDR:

Anyone else losing interest in keeping up with the Jones's with regards to the latest hardware and just getting back to actually enjoying some gaming?

Sorry this is a bit waffly but I'm just getting some thoughts out.

I'm an old guy (56) and I've always had a gaming PC in preference to a laptop. I've had laptops but as companion devices rather than my main gaming system. I've probably played games for no more than 10 days so far this year. There's a few reasons I think, the gaming machine is in my small office (8ft x6ft). This never used to be a problem but just recently it's started feeling wrong. I've a number of desks around the house (bedroom, office, one of the downstairs reception rooms). I work from any of these desks depending on my mood, the noise from the neighbours or which ones warmer.

I've had a gaming laptop for a few years for occasional use but I'm finding it more appealing using that wherever I feel than I do going on a 165Hz 4K gaming rig. High screen resolutions and refresh rates seem to be losing their appeal for me and I find that 1080 120hz is perfectly good. I seem to be enjoying gaming more with the laptop than the dedicated rig.
