First year kin student bcs

What courses should I take in my first year as a Kin and HealthSci BSc student?
I know that there are some 0-credit courses that we have to take and 3 prerequisites, but other than that, what are some good electives I can take? My aim is med school, so I'm going to have to take biology, math, and chem. A friend of mine also told me that we need to take a compact course. Any suggestions for that? Also, are there any specific profs or courses that you think a first-year student should avoid? I really like projects and research, and prefer to take courses that have fewer tests and quizzes.
Thanks
