My ex common law partner moved into my home many years ago. We are permanently seperating, and he is moving into his own apartment. He is currently suing me for an interest in my home, claiming I unjust enrichment. (I don't believe he has a viable case for this, but that is yet to be determined.)

My question is, if he is denied his spurious claim for unjust enrichment, can he then sue me for spousal support even though my current pension is lower than his and I am a senior citizen still working part time to make ends meet for my own bills. But .. I do have my fairly heavily mortgaged home, that he stayed in, paying only a minimal monthly contribution to the actual cost of occupancy. Can I be forced to pay him spousal support because I foolishly let him live in my home for next to nothing? We have never had a joint account, all the utilities and taxes are in my name and paid by me. All work done on the house be it roofing, plumbing, or electrical has also been paid by me.
