what is this?

i think its a rabbit. friends and family have suggested bird or squirrel. it was found under a porch with about 2 feet of crawl space in upstate new york if that helps.

upstate new york — this tree in my front yard has been confusing me and my grandmother for a few years now. included a picture of where the two trees separate but the rest of the trunk is one tree.
