Hey, I am planning to create an IIoT application for a PLC-based control system that I physically built. I have access to a Rockwell Lab thanks to the uni, so I have access to PLCs and I can buy additional sensor etc if they are not unreasonably expensive.
I would like to mimic a PLC-Based control system in small-scale and integrate that system into the IIoT ecosystem. I would like to show that I can code PLCs, can use protocols to communicate sensors and PLCs. I want the IIoT system to be used for monitoring, alerts etc. I think I could use raspberry pi.
I did an internship in a frozen food and pastry factory, the IIoT system was used to monitor which product was being produced, the efficiency, if there was any non-working parts in the production line.
What PLC-based process do you think I could build myself that would fit and work well with an IIoT application. I can have access to an amount of PLCs(more than one) so making them communicate would show I am somewhat competent to work and be employed.(I am hoping so)
Some ideas I had are: using temperature sensors to monitor the temperature, send alerts when it exceeds or falls below a threshold. Send alerts when the sensor is not working or the connection is lost.
Any type of ideas are welcome even if they are too much and exceed my ability. If you could ask me questions that you want me to clarify to help better, would be really great. I am also kind of brainstorming now even though a deadline is coming up. That’s me.
