Advice needed - antypsychotic
Hi everyone,
we’re currently discussing the possibility of introducing a low-dose antipsychotic for our 8-year-old AuDHD daughter due to severe emotional dysregulation/aggressive meltdowns, especially in social and sensory overload situations.
She’s already on stimulant medication + valproate, which helped for a while, but things have escalated again.
I’d really appreciate hearing honest experiences from parents whose children were prescribed antipsychotics (especially risperidone or aripiprazole):
- What symptoms did it help with?
- Did it reduce aggression/meltdowns?
- Any major side effects?
- Did your child still feel like themselves?
Anything you wish you had known beforehand?
