Help a returning player pick a spec?
Looking to try out arena again after almost a decade, was pretty mid (1.8k-2k) back in the day. I’m seeking a dps spec with the following criteria:
Sustained damage, or at least able to pump meaningful pressure more than once per minute. The ‘try to oneshot someone then spend the next minute kiting’ playstyle really wasn’t for me.
Some degree of control. Big CC is alright but even micro CC is fine as long as you can deter a ‘go’ or sabotage setups
Not completely dependent on scripted setups. I’d ideally like to be able to apply pressure on the fly when opportunities arise rather than trying to create that one perfect kill condition. So basically something that doesn’t work like old fashioned RMx or FDK+WW.
Doesn’t have to be a specific race. Feels terrible when not having shadowmeld, hardiness or escape artist gimps your character.
Melee or ranged doesn’t really matter as I’ve played both (though it was back in MoP-Legion). I’d rather not do super intensive pet micromanagement but I’ve heard that’s less of a thing nowadays.
