I'm planning my first trip to China and I'm unsure whether I should visit Shanghai or Shenzhen/Hong Kong, or both and sacrifice another place. My 30-day itinerary is as follows: Beijing (3 days) > Pingyao (2 days) > Xi'an (3 days) > Chengdu (3 days) > Chongqing (3 days) > Zhangjiajie (4 days) > Fenghuang (2 days) > Yangshuo (3 days) > Shenzhen (3 days) > Hong Kong (3 days).

I like old and historical cities, nature, and technology. I tried to mix these elements in my plan, but I'm afraid I'll regret not including Shanghai.

ps: this is my second solo trip and first time in Asia, so any advice about China would be appreciated :D
