I was invited to a Christian home meeting, and we sang some hymns and then some printed literature was passed out and we read it, taking turns every sentence or two.
When the reading got to certain parts I was quite taken aback and surprised to be seeing such a doctrine.
I tracked down the source of the literature and will present here for your evaluation. As you evaluate it, imagine you are at the home meeting and it is your turn to read a sentence that is in bold print and thus evaluate the doctrine on that merit, whether you would be comfortable reading it, and comfortable accepting the doctrine. Also, have you ever seen this doctrine before?
I for one had never heard this doctrine before and don't want anything to do with it, but curious what others here think. My take is we know man is in a fallen state, but satanic temptation comes to the believer from external sources. Internal temptations are from ourselves, giving into external temptations or going after our own lusts, dealing with the flesh, the consequences of having the knowledge of good and evil and free will. The same would be the same for unbelievers, except there are those cases of demonic possession, which would be an exception, where direct internal influence would occur.
Just to be clear, I strongly disagree with the doctrine taught in this message and want to discuss with you. I may use this to show others, that I am not wrong to have a strong disagreement with the doctrine. Honestly, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and to me there is no way to explain this away and make it ok.
I tracked the source down to Life-Study of Genesis message 22 by Witness Lee:
"Although Adam was pure when created by God, as a result of the fall Satan, the evil one, injected himself into man. Therefore, whenever man acts by himself he is in union with the Devil. Thus, man should not act on his own, but should reject himself and depend on God. I must continually realize that I am a fallen person and that Satan is within me, in my nature, in my thought, desire, and will. Satan is altogether one with me. I dare not exercise myself in acting on my own. I must say, "Lord, I cast myself aside and I put my trust in You. Lord, You take the lead. You take the initiative. Lord, I want to follow You and take Your way." We are not merely sinful, but our very self has become devilish because Satan is in us. Everything we devise according to our nature is actually an invention of the Devil. Cain, along with numerous people today, did not realize this. He thought that as long as he did something for God, serving Him and worshipping Him, everything was fine. Do not think this way. You must realize where you stand and what you are. As fallen people, we are one with the Devil. He is not only around us and over us, but also within us, in our nature, in our mind, emotion, and will. Whenever you lose your temper Satan is present. Whenever you exercise your emotions by yourself, Satan is active in you. Do not say that it is only you who behave in such a way, for Satan is with you and in you. This is not only true in evil things, but even in good things."
