Too alchii to go alone so.

I just got back from a wedding in the Terai and I am still processing everything.

The day before the wedding was wild. A few of us guys were allotted a whole wooden house to stay in. It was basically just floor to floor mattresses and pillows in every room. People were casually smoking, drinking beer and vodka, and rolling weed while playing cards. It was so open and nobody seemed to care.

Then on the wedding day we were sitting by the highway drinking way too many beers. A few guys started making joints right on the roadside and a police van pulled up right in front of us. I actually panicked and thought we were done for. But one of the guys knew them through local politics and they just chatted like it was nothing. The cops were so casual about the weed and just drove off.

The thing is, I do not smoke or drink at all. Being the only sober person there made the whole thing feel even more surreal and a bit scary. I have never seen police that relaxed about stuff before. Is this normal for the Terai or did I just experience a glitch in the matrix?
