My company is shutting down operations in the UAE and my last day is May 31st. I've been subscribed to ILOE since 2023, all premiums paid, and I have my termination letter confirming it was for operational reasons, nothing disciplinary.
The problem is I need to travel to India around May 21st due to a family situation that can't wait. So I'll be outside the UAE when my termination officially takes effect.
A few questions I can't find clear answers to online:
- Can I file the ILOE claim online from outside the UAE, or do I physically need to be here?
- If I come back to Dubai briefly in early June on a visit visa to file the claim, would that work? Has anyone done this?
- Once the claim is approved and payments start, do they continue if I'm abroad? Or does being outside the UAE stop the monthly payments?
- Has anyone successfully received all three monthly payments while living outside the UAE during the job search period?
I'm planning to return to Dubai for a new role anyway so this isn't a permanent exit, more of an extended visit home while I job search remotely.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar. The official ILOE website isn't very clear on these specific scenarios.
