Hey all.

As a mostly VFR flyer and generally trying to replicate the way we fly VFR in real live on the sim: looking mostly out there instead of inside the cockpit - I am struggling hard in most flight sims (combat included, like IL-2) to maintain proper coordinated flight.

I end up having to constantly look at the ball and slip indicator because I can't find another way to properly tell that I'm slipping during power changes and turns; while we can feel lateral G's in real life and do an almost subconscious, albeit gross, correction, and then fine correct the rudder input based on the instrument, there's no such way to feel this in the sim.

For combat flight sims like IL-2, where you have to be looking all around for bandits (tiny pixels moving), I can't pay enough attention to the slip indicator as I should.

So, I was thinking of ways to portray the slip feeling better to the player, but the only way the sim can communicate with us is visually and audibly (and with the motion rig for the few who have it ;) ). I can't think of any immersive ways audibly to give us this feedback, but I thought about visually, giving a subtle red tint at the screen left/right borders for example the more you're slipping left/right.

I've googled around and couldn't find any mod that could add this or something similar for any of the sims I have. Do you guys think this would be hard to develop? It's far from ideal but I'd sacrifice a bit of unrealistic tinting at the borders of the screen for a higher feedback on what my virtual pilot would be feeling on his seat.

Any other ideas on how this could be portrayed better?

TLDR: Possibility of a mod adding a visual (screen tint at the screen borders) indicator to simulate lateral G's felt by the pilot to better assist us to correct for slip without having to constantly watch the ball and slip indicator?

First post here, would love to have a discussion about this!

Fly safe!

Edit.: created this picture with a screenshot from a video I made to try and explain what I mean (in this case, red tint left side, I'd expect a left rudder correction would be needed).
