I’ve been troubleshooting this for hours and could use some help from anyone familiar with Kemper + Ableton on Windows.

Issue:

When I select ASIO → Kemper Profiler in Ableton, I get:

>

What’s weird:

  • Ableton detects the Kemper ASIO driver
  • But it won’t initialize / open
  • It falls back to Realtek ASIO if I switch devices

My setup:

  • Windows PC
  • Ableton Live
  • Kemper Profiler (latest OS ~14.x)
  • Latest Rig Manager installed
  • Connected via USB (tried front + motherboard ports)

What I’ve already tried:

  • Switching Kemper to Native Audio (ASIO) in Rig Manager
  • Restarting everything (PC, Kemper, Ableton)
  • Reinstalling Rig Manager
  • Trying different USB ports
  • Closing all apps (Discord, browser, etc.)
  • Matching sample rate (44.1kHz)

Important clue:

In Device Manager, the Kemper shows up as:

👉 “Profiler”

NOT:
👉 “Kemper Profiler”

Also, when I manually try to update the driver, I only see:

  • USB Audio Device
  • USBMidi2-ACX

No Kemper ASIO driver available to select.

My suspicion:

It seems like:

  • The Kemper is in ASIO mode
  • But Windows is still using a generic USB audio driver instead of the Kemper ASIO driver

So Ableton sees the ASIO driver but can’t actually connect to the hardware.

Question:

Has anyone run into this where:

  • Kemper is in Native Audio (ASIO)
  • But Windows doesn’t install or bind the Kemper ASIO driver?

How did you fix it?

Any help is appreciated 🙏

I feel like I’m one step away from getting this working but stuck on driver recognition.
