Help please! Looking for fun ways to give a character a deliberate in-system handicap (and a super robot punch)

So I'm playing in a campaign run by a good friend, which is taking fairly heavy setting inspiration from Tokusatsu media (Godzilla/Kamen Rider/Super Sentai/Ultraman etc), although with a classic fantasy/DnD bent overall.

My character, 'Hargreave', is a lvl 3 Order of Watchers Paladin (a loose send-up of Giles from Buffy, with some other bits and pieces sprinkled in) and is going to start taking levels in Hexblade Warlock. These Warlock level(s) help represent the fact that, before joining the party, he got Showa Kamen Rider'd (turned into an (eldritch) combat android against his will by his unscrupulous former organisation)

In light of this, I'm effectively trying to work out two things:

- how to style Hexblade in a fun but also creepy way that fits with the Kamen Rider flavouring (especially as I also plan to take Eldritch Blast to make up for limited range options)

- how to give my character some debuffs (possibly in exchange for squeezing a little extra out of the Hexblade stuff, possibly just for fun) that convey 'this guy's been retrofitted into a messed up combat robot' but don't make me, the player, utterly miserable xD

Below are the notes I sent my DM in a doc:

‘Warlock’ [Kamen Rider '71 body horror] Weapon + Flavour Notes

Hargreave has been experimented on by his Order and tossed aside. This should manifest as Hexblade Warlock skills, and also Consequences

Rider Punch!:

  • Took the two weapon paladin build over weapon and shield, but left a weapon slot blank
  • Has to be a ‘weapon’ rather than pure unarmed as otherwise Hexblade kinda sucks
  • Options?
    • Just flavour an existing bladed weapon as a claw/punch etc
    • ‘Dragon Hide’ Feat: 1d4 slashing claws, but they count as natural weapons
    • Armourer’s Thunder Gauntlets: Each of the armor's gauntlets counts as a simple melee weapon while you aren't holding anything in it, and it deals 1d8 thunder damage on a hit
    • Pure homebrew weapon or feat?
    • Could be a more explicit mechanical horror - just read something where a character was cursed and had wolverine-like blades they could pop-out and retract from their forearms and shins

Cursed Flavour:

  • Make Strength saving throws to not crush everyday objects?
  • Gain Exhaustion in exchange for temporary better chances at physical actions?
  • Roll to Sleep?

As you can see, there's a loose scattering of stuff, but it's pretty directionless and lacking zest right now. We're also playing kinda fast and loose with the 5e rules in some areas, so perfect min-maxing and exact game balance aren't a big concern.

Really struggling on the finer points of the ideas right now, so if anyone out there has some cool homebrew, or suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
