State of the Garden - Tomato Arbor

Left side, front to back in the whole arbor pic: Cajun Belle pepper in the white pot, Cherokee Carbon, Chocolate Sprinkles, Cherokee Carbon in 20-gallon potato bags

Right side, front to back: Black Krim, Black Krim, Chocolate Sprinkles, Paul Robeson, Paul Robeson, in 10-gallon potato bags.

The Chocolate Sprinkles grape tomatoes mature VERY early (50-55 days), and both sides have been fruiting for a couple of weeks now. Nothing is ripe, yet.

The Cherokee Carbons have just set fruit, and I'm excited! The Paul Robesons and Black Krims are just flowering. It might be because they're all on the shadier right side. It's way too early for the 10 gallon vs 20 gallon to make a difference. Hopefully, they'll catch up this summer, when some shade is absolutely critical.

It's hard to describe what a rush this is. There's still plenty of time for them to break my heart, of course, but it's a start!

One is a Merced tomato; the other, a whitish tomato called, appropriately enough, "Great White."

The seed mix is homemade - coco coir and perlite. I know the perlite is too big, but the mix drains well, so I'm not worried about it.

My first mistake was using the clear cover. It was TOO humid, even with the vent holes wide open. I got a little mold on the wooden picks with the names. I took off the cover, the mold cleared up (mostly), and a couple of days later, sprouts!
