Is anyone actually seeing ROI with X (Twitter) for newsletter growth lately?

I’m currently mapping out my growth strategy for the next quarter and I’m curious about the current state of X as a top-of-funnel source.

We all know the "golden era" of threads seems to have shifted, but I’m still seeing a lot of creators swear by it. I’d love to get some transparent feedback.

Conversion Quality: For those running "Auto-DM" flows or "Link in Bio" strategies, how is the subscriber quality? Are you seeing high churn, or are these readers actually engaging with your long-form content?

The Ad Route: Has anyone experimented with X Ads for sign-ups recently? I’ve heard mixed reviews on the lead quality compared to Meta or LinkedIn.

Organic Reach: Are you finding that you need to be "X-native" (posting 5 to 10 times a day) to see any needle-moving growth, or can a few high-value posts per week still do the trick?

The "Shadow" Factor: Does anyone feel like their reach gets throttled the moment they include an external newsletter link?

I’m debating whether to double down on X or pivot that energy toward other ways. If you’ve got any data points, I’d love to hear them.
