A nutritionist as a profession in Nepal?
I am currently doing my mbbs course and I’m just in 2nd year. An idea ran in my mind, there are thousands of medical officer in nepal and after some years it will be too difficult to get a decent salary by working here. If I want to earn a decent amount to sustain my lifestyle, I have two choices, either be one of the best medical officer by doing MD and DM which will take probably 12+ years from now on as I have to do bonding as well. Its very difficult to do all this and the motivation to do so also degrades after constant abuse from the hospitals by making us work to bones and paying us little salary while internship and during PG study. Or go to another nation to pursue MD or MS.
So, my point is that can nutritionist be a safer option as a career? I haven’t seen or heard about it much and people are slowly being aware about their nutrition and how it may affect their development and progress of chronic illness. This thought just ran across my mind if I can be a great nutritionist by studying more about in after my mbbs or during the course of mbbs i can study about it and later on pursue that career and make a brand in nepal that every person have heard about and make it accessible to all the classes , for example i can post videos for those who cannot take a private counselling and for those who can pay I can provide more specific solutions to them according to their illness and lifestyle.
It is very difficult to pursue my mbbs carrer and be a medical officer and have to compete with all of them for getting recognition and have to spend a lot on that career while i am having constant pressure from every sides. Can someone who have clear idea about this field enlighten me about the current trend of this profession in nepal and how can I pursue it after my mbbs and also tell me if this path I am choosing is a very promising path if I work on it hard enough.
