It scratches the same itch as playing in a sandbox as a child.

You just sit there, find some hidden objects and additionally feel happy because you've done something good. That's literally an engaging activity. Only sandboxes are usually less biologically hazardous, but hey, the danger only adds to the thrill (joking).
