When water is added to a magnesium fire, the water cracks into hydrogen and oxygen, causing a great release of energy in the form of an explosion.
This energy release could be controlled and utilized in power plants, water filtration, and propulsion.
When used to filter sea water, magnesium could be recovered from the expelled water, making it self sustaining.
