I’ll be turning 24 this year, and my partner 29. Our families are okay with us getting married, but my uncle, who is 45, is still unmarried. Because of that, my family wants me to wait until he gets married before we do. So here I am, trying to find a suitable woman around his age (if you happen to know anyone) so I can marry my partner as soon as possible.

I also grew up in my mother’s house because my father was absent. My mother holds very patriarchal beliefs and thinks my uncle should decide when I get married, simply because he is a man. On top of that, and my vrithiketta nattukar are gossiping that my mother is preventing my uncle from getting married so she can use his money for my wedding. She doesn’t want people to think that, which is another reason she doesn’t want me to get married before him.
