Hey all. I've been rebounding weight gain and loss quite a bit over the past several years. 6'2 male went down from 250 to 180 over a year then got depressed and rebounded up to 270 after which I went back down to 200 before getting depressed again and going up to 320. Neglected health and nutrition for a while but during blood work my psych noted that I might be at risk of fatty liver which was kind of a wake up call.
I've been locking in again over the past week or so with an oat, legume, fish, egg, and tofu (pescatarian) heavy diet aiming for a 500-750 kcal deficit. maintenance is above 3k according to MFP so that's not too painful or difficult alongside stimulant prescriptions that suppress appetite and maintain energy throughout the day.
I am not too worried about getting back to sub 200 over the next couple years but I am worried about rebounding due to an inevitable recurring depressive episode as they hit quite hard and last 12+ months every time with me hardly able to get out of bed or function at all. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for not slipping back into poor eating habits and comfort eating when this happens so I can be cognizant and prepare. Thanks in advance!
