Employment Background Check Question – Incorrect Job Start Date
I recently realized that one of my previous job start dates on my application may be inaccurate. I listed June, but the actual start date was December. I have W2s/pay records, and there was no intention to misrepresent anything. I’m still waiting to hear whether I received the offer or not.
If i can get the offer, should I.....
- Put the corrected/accurate dates there and let the background check reflect the updated information?
or
- Proactively explain the discrepancy to HR/recruiter after receiving the offer?
Has anyone gone through something similar? What was the outcome?
