Hey,

I’m looking to buy a cup sealing machine and could use some advice before I commit.

I’m planning to use:

  • PP cups (95mm)
  • PET cups (98mm)

and I want the final product to have a peelable seal with an easy-to-grab tab.

From what I understand so far:

  • The seal itself (peelable vs not) mainly comes from the type of film, not just the machine
  • Machines use heat + pressure + a cutting mechanism to seal and trim the film
  • Cup/film compatibility matters (PP with PP film, PET with PET film, etc.)

Where I’m confused:

  • How do you actually get the peel tab?
  • Is that something built into the machine (like a special cutting die), or can you add a separate part to a standard sealer?
  • Or is it done through the film design itself?

I’ve seen some suppliers mention “custom machines with peel tabs,” which makes it sound like it’s part of the tooling rather than a universal add-on

Ideally I’d like to:

  • Buy a standard machine that can handle both PP (95mm) and/or PET (98mm)
  • Use peelable film
  • Add or upgrade later to get a proper tab if possible

If anyone has experience with this:

  • Is a universal machine + peelable film enough?
  • Or do I need to plan for custom molds/dies from the start?
  • Any recommended suppliers or machines that support this?

Appreciate any help, this part has been way harder to figure out than expected.
