Hey everyone,

I’m looking to add a subwoofer to my setup and would appreciate some advice. I’m currently running a Topping DX5 II into a pair of Kali LP-UNF speakers in a desk-based setup. Right now I’m in a small room, and I’ll likely be moving into a small apartment or ADU soon, so I’m trying to be mindful of space and neighbors.

For context, I’ve been looking into a few options like the Kali WS-6.2, SVS SB-1000 Pro, and Eris pro Sub 10, but I’m not sure which of these would be best for my setup. These options are definitely the simplest as they all have lowpass filter. The Kali and SVS are around 599 usd while the Presonus is around 475 usd. My budget would be no more than the kali or svs.

Current setup:

  • Topping DX5 II (balanced out)
  • Kali LP-UNF speakers
  • Desk-based setup

Use case

  1. Music listening (hip hop, rap, EDM, , pretty much everything)
  2. DJing / messing around in Serato
  3. Gaming

Movies aren’t really a focus for me.

I’m debating between:

  • More compact, controlled subs that are easier to manage in smaller spaces
  • Larger subs that extend deeper and add more weight/impact

My concerns:

  • Not overwhelming a small apartment or causing too much vibration through walls/floors
  • Still getting satisfying low-end for music (especially 808s and electronic music)

Future plans:

I may upgrade my speakers down the line (possibly something like Kali Lp - 6 or Kali IN-5), so I’m also thinking about long-term compatibility.

Would love to hear what people would prioritize in this situation, or any recommendations in a similar price range.

Thanks 🙏
