David Fagen was an American soldier during the Philippine–American War who became one of the most unusual figures in that conflict.

He was originally a private in the United States Army, but in 1899 he defected and joined Filipino forces fighting against American rule. Fagen aligned himself with the army of Emilio Aguinaldo and reportedly became a guerrilla officer, even rising to a leadership role commanding troops against his former comrades.
