IN: financial records concerns
My 92y mom just entered a facility after living with my family for 18 months.
She was admitted "medicaid pending" and I'm worried about the financial situation. When she came here she had about 11K in savings. She gave her grandkids about 4K that Christmas.
The rest has been gradually spent down as she helped pay household bills, paid her caregivers, etc. Nothing outrageous. She did buy tires for me car and my husband's, otherwise it was just a matter of her social security not always covering expenses.
Now I'm worried bc I keep reading that Medicaid goes back 5 years and I don't know if somehow we'll be in trouble for her savings being depleted.
I'm sure I'll find out soon enough but I don't want to lose sleep over it. This has been such a stressful transition already. I appreciate any input.
