Recurrent Mastitis
hi everyone, looking for some opinions or personal stories. I am 6 months pp and I have gotten mastitis 7x. it started when baby was 10 days old and I had to go to ER so I went 6 hours without pumping. since then I’ve gotten it every 3-5 weeks and always happens if I over sleep or go a long time without pumping/ breastfeeding. I never feel a “clog” it always turns into mastitis right away. my first symptoms will always be pain when latching, body aches, fever , and body chills.
I talked to my pcp and she ordered an ultrasound and requesting a culture if I get it again. I was not consistent on sunflower lecithin and only did it once a day. has this happened to anyone ? any advice? I am a little worried since the pcp mentioned she wants to rule out “breast cancer” even though I told her my symptoms resolve when I take the antibiotics. she also called me this morning asking to switch my antibiotics (I’m on day 9) because she wants to put me on something stronger, she thinks the dicloxacillan isn’t killing the bacteria , even though I feel fine now? idk I’m all over the place.
