Career in bioinformatics or nursing?
Good morning,
after completing a bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, I realized that it is not the right path for me: I don’t enjoy a job that is too focused on working at a computer or in a purely academic environment, and I also understood that I am not particularly suited to computer science. At the same time, I developed a strong interest in biological and healthcare sciences, and already during my second year I started considering switching to medicine or nursing.
One of my main concerns is employment: I’m worried that bioinformatics may offer fewer opportunities and be a more limited field, while nursing seems to provide much more stability and job availability.
For this reason, I’m wondering whether starting nursing at 24 is a sensible choice. Is there anyone who has studied or works in these fields and could share a concrete perspective on what they are like? Thank you.
